Who Let the Dogs Out?

By Intouch Team | Category: Intouch Culture |

Over 50 dogs were wagging their tails inside the Intouch Kansas City office when employees participated in Take Your Dog to Work Day last Friday, June 23. This year – our second year hosting pups — we partnered with KC Pet Project (KCPP), so that people who couldn’t bring in a dog still had the chance to participate. KCPP brought in five puppies that employees were able to play with by making a donation or buying a raffle ticket. Raffle prizes included custom Intouch Bark Boxes containing toys, treats and other fun stuff dogs love. All the money raised went to KCPP.

Kansas City office manager Kelly Dougherty loves having dogs at the office. “Dogs are wonderful. They see us in a better light than we see ourselves,” she said. “Dog Day provides a nice break from the mundane (if there is mundane in advertising).”

Intouch’s very own professional pet photographer, Jennifer Starr (senior media planner at Intouch) was here to take pictures of the pups in a doggy photo booth with lots of fun props.

Caylene Calzone, account administrator, didn’t have a dog to bring to the office, but she still had a great time participating in the fun. “One of my favorite parts about working for Intouch is that we put on fun events like this. It creates a ‘work hard, play hard’ mentality that pushes our associates to come to work every day and gives them something to look forward to,” she said. “I don’t know about everyone else, but I had Take Your Dog to Work Day marked on my calendar from the moment the email was sent out.”

You may not know, but Take Your Dog to Work Day actually has some history behind it. Pet Sitters International (PSI) held the first Take Your Dog to Work Day in 1999. And even today, PSI is constantly encouraging businesses to open their doors to furry friends to help promote pet adoptions.

Intouch’s Take Your Dog to Work Day was nothing short of a little slobber, a few barks and lots of fun.  By the end of the day, we raised a total of $500 for KC Pet Project. Check out all the photos Intouchers shared throughout the day: #dogsofintouch and #takeyourdogtoworkday.
