Intouchers Show Off Teamwork and Competitive Spirit at KCCC 2014
As another summer passes by, so does another Corporate Challenge season. A city-wide event dating back to 1980, the Corporate Challenge encourages healthy competition amongst Kansas City area corporations in a summer long Olympic-type event.
The 2014 Kansas City Corporate Challenge season was a blast for all who participated. Intouch moved up a division due to our growth in size, competing against larger, more experienced companies. The Intouch team rose to — and met — the challenge.
If you haven’t followed along in years past, Intouch competed in the 2012 Kansas City Corporate Challenge event, bringing home eighth place in Division E. Then, in 2013, we exceeded expectations by taking 4th place and winning the Spirit Award. In 2014, because we moved up to Division D, we knew it would be a tough year of competing against larger companies with more employees than us.
But the 2014 season had an unexpected ending! Much of the season, Intouch hovered in the tenth-to-twelfth place range. However, with the last week of competition, we had some big wins with our weightlifting and flag football teams. On top of that, a group of dedicated swimmers led by team captain Sarah Sauer rounded out the season, aggressively swimming for every point available. The last week’s efforts helped Intouch move to fifth place where we ended the season.
We had some incredible finishes this year and would like to congratulate these multi-talented Intouchers who brought home medals:
- First place finishes for Holly Owens in women’s racquetball, Claudia Smith in women’s weightlifting, and our swimmers in the medley relay and freestyle relay
- Second place finishes for the women’s 3v3 soccer team and coed flag football team
- Third place finishes for Erin Mohr in table tennis, Sarah Sauer in the 200 freestyle, Ed Johnson in the 50 freestyle, the men’s 3v3 soccer team, the 5k team, and the coed bowling team
As another year passes, we always reflect on the good times we had and the medals we won, but — in Corporate Challenge, as well as in business — Intouch is always ready to compete again!
Thanks and congrats to all Intouchers who participated and to Intouch leadership for supporting our involvement in KCCC. For more pictures of the games, scroll through our photo album below or visit Intouch on Facebook. Here’s to looking ahead and dominating in 2015!
