Data privacy is still a fairly new field. The annual international Data Privacy Day (only 11 years old) commemorates the signing of the first-ever data-privacy treaty back in 1981. Most fields that young would still be the realm of a handful of experts. But today, data privacy is a common topic for everyday consumers and marketers. This speaks to data’s explosive growth — 90% of all data ever was created in the last two years — and to how intrinsic it’s become to everyday life.
