Here’s to Your Health!

By Intouch Team | Category: Intouch Culture |

The well-being of every employee is important for the overall health of any organization. Intouch’s concern for health goes beyond the work we produce, and since we work in the healthcare field, our individual commitment to health is even stronger.

The Healthy You committees in our Chicago and Kansas City offices worked hard in 2015 to provide many opportunities for Intouchers to improve their health and wellness. Healthy You offered several new initiatives, as well as popular events from the past. Not surprisingly, chair massages were a welcome reprise.

To promote physical activity, Chicago Intouchers started 2015 with Fitness Week in January, which provided unlimited guest access to Lakeshore Sport & Fitness and unique events for each day of the week. Activities included cardio dance classes, free fitness consultations and open rock climbing. Kansas City provided a similar offering with a Biggest Loser-style competition. For the month of August, KC Intouchers had access to Genesis Health Club and attended weigh-ins at the beginning and end of the month. There were more than 70 participants, and over the course of the competition, the group lost a combined 154 pounds!

The Healthy You committees also sponsored Intouchers for health-related charitable initiatives. Chicago participated in the Lakeshore Showdown obstacle course in May and the Cystic Fibrosis Stair Climb in November. In September, Kansas City employees participated in the Panera Bread Diabetes Dash.

Other popular initiatives included on-site flu vaccinations, yoga classes, free chair massages, an aromatherapy and acupuncture lunch-and-learn, a guided meditation class, and free health screenings.

The KC Healthy You committee also hosted a pancake breakfast fundraiser that brought in more than $800 for the families of the two KC firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty this past October.

Planning for 2016 is in full swing. If your New Year’s resolution involves health and fitness, you can be sure that the Healthy You committees will be there all year long to help you achieve your goals!
