Intouch Is #ALLin for Caregivers: Our Research and Whitepaper
If you’ve been following our #ALLin journey throughout 2016, you’ve watched our progress as we traveled around the country. We’ve participated in numerous events, including Walk MS, the CCFA Crohn’s and Colitis Take Steps Walk, the Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes. You may have also read about our Accelerator hackathon.
So what’s next? Are we going to keep traveling and talking with people? Well, there was one part of our journey that we weren’t immediately able to share publicly.
As we were talking to people with a variety of chronic conditions and their friends and family, it became clear that caregivers were vitally important. Whether they were providing a shoulder to cry on, literally carrying their loved ones, or somewhere in between, these people were making a big difference in the lives of these patients.
Yet we could find little insight into the tremendous impact caregivers have on the health of the people they love and care for. So we partnered with the Digital Health Coalition to conduct original research on the role caregivers play in patient outcomes.
We presented the results of that research — The State of Caregiving 2016 — alongside the DHC for the first time recently at Digital Pharma East, the world’s largest conference for life-sciences marketers. Check out a video from that presentation.
We learned a great deal from the findings, including:
- Who caregivers are today
- How much time and effort is required of caregivers
- What they’re doing for their loved ones
- What a difference they’re making for them
- How they look for help: where, when, from whom
- How technology is helping
- What they wish they had
