“... every strategy is built to address specific insights or behaviors of the customer.”

Q

How does your role as a strategist fit into pharma?

My role is to work with clients, to always put the customer first. That means every strategy is built to address specific insights or behaviors of the customer. My job isn’t to come up with the ONE strategic idea but rather to keep the ideas centered on what matters most. And then help put our best ideas into market.

Q

What makes Intouch Chicago office’s atmosphere so unique?

I don’t think Chicago is unique. Intouch is unique, and the Chicago office carries that through with a lot of energy and excitement. The office is young and growing quickly and is in a market where we have access to great talent. That is what makes it exciting.

Q

Have you always been able to see the big picture idea, but also have the ability to break it down into working pieces?

This job takes practice. And truthfully no, I cannot always see the big picture idea and break it down. The great thing about this business is you don’t have to. The creative minds that surround every idea I have find the “right” ideas to put into action.

Q

What was your very first paying job?

Delivering newspapers — The Columbus Dispatch. I did this for 7 years.

Q

What was your favorite college course?

Philosophy.

Q

If you could have lunch with any person, living or dead (other than a relative), who would it be?

Julia Child.

Q

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Neither. I love sleep.

Q

How did you get started in this industry?

One job leads to another. You figure out what you like about what you are doing and find more of it. I actually started my career in marketing at CompuServe. Right, dating myself, but before even AOL, there was CompuServe.

Q

What chore do you absolutely hate doing?

A Folding laundry.

Q

What is your favorite drink?

Gin martini on the rocks, two olives.

Q

What was the last good book you read?

Italy for the Gourmet Traveler by Fred Plotkin.

Q

If you could live during any time period, which would it be?

I LOVED Little House on the Prairie. I would have loved to be Laura Ingalls’ best friend.

Do you have any hidden talents?

Not sure it is a talent as much as a hobby. I love to cook and entertain. Or would the fact that I can put my whole fist in my mouth be a better answer?
