“(Intouch’s growth has been) amazing. Beyond anything I could have imagined.”

Q

You’ve been at Intouch since day one. What’s it been like to see Intouch’s growth from the ground up?

Amazing. Beyond anything I could have imagined.

Q

What has been your favorite Intouch milestone so far?

There have been so many. They just keep coming! It’s fun to watch the constant growth and evolution of the company.

Q

What was the last good book you read?

Neil Young's autobiography, Waging Heavy Peace. It's interesting. I tend to read novels — thrillers and so on — so this is different. I’m a Neil Young fan, and we’ve been to a number of his concerts.

Q

What was your very first paying job?

Camp counselor. It hardly paid anything, but I got paid. I worked as a camp counselor every summer until I graduated from college.

Q

What was your favorite college course?

In high school, I loved the different math classes. When I was getting my MBA, I really enjoyed the entrepreneur classes.

Q

How did you get started in this industry?

By luck. I was finishing my MBA and needed an independent study credit. I asked my husband what I could do to see if he had ideas. He was working with Faruk to set up a new company, so he said, "How about watching a company getting formed from the ground up?" I sat in on the organizational meetings and was there to see what it takes to start a company. Later, since I was finishing my degree and had experience in accounting, I accepted a job with Intouch.

Q

What chore do you absolutely hate doing?

The ones I hate doing I don’t do anymore.

Q

What is your favorite drink?

Diet Coke. Chardonnay. Depends on what time of day it is.

Q

Do you have any hidden talents?

I like all types of boating and used to teach canoeing. I had a captain’s license for powerboats, and we took the family through the Virgin Islands.

Q

If you could live during any time period, which would it be?

I used to think it would be really fun, if you were part of the aristocracy, to live in Old England, but having seen the conditions they lived in, no thank you. I like the creature comforts. I like now.

Q

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I do my best work in the morning, but I don’t like to wake up. I am not a night owl.
